The Ultimate Guide for a
Gluten Free Foodie in Bristol

Bristol has slowly but surely become known for its huge  choice of places to eat (and drink…), whether you’re looking for a trendy but cheap brunch spot or the perfect place to wine and dine, there really is something for everyone.

In addition to this, Bristol also offers tonnes of options for people with specific dietary requirements. At a time where more people than ever are changing their diets, it’s important that restaurants step up to the plate (no pun intended…) to provide good food options for everybody’s wants and needs!

Beth Warren (@foodbetheats) is a Bristol food blogger who has been on the hunt for the best gluten-free hot spots in and around the South West for a while now and her Instagram page is the perfect guide for anyone looking for inspiration! We asked Beth for her top 5 gluten-free-friendly restaurants in Bristol so take a look below to see where she recommends…

The Ashville Steakhouse

This authentic restaurant is on a quiet street close to North Street in Bedminster. It offers a selection of steak cuts from the simple 8oz rump to a 96oz tomahawk steak. They also do the best BBQ ribs ever! For steak, prices range from between £15.95 for 8oz and up to £110 for a 96oz steak! If steak isn’t your thing, they also do burgers, fish and pasta dishes ranging from £9.95 to £14.95 – so there is something for everyone and every budget. This restaurant also had a great music playlist that my husband and I found ourselves singing along to.

Burger Theory

Burger Theory is the coolest little burger joint in the centre of Bristol. They have lots of different burger options as well as changing specials. Nearly all of the burgers can be made gluten free by changing the bun or going bunless.  They also have great vegan options and super dirty stacked fries. Prices for the burgers range from £8.25 to £13.50 but you won’t be able to resist adding some Korean chicken or their house slaw to your order. Also, be sure to check out their bottomless burger club!

Quay St Diner

This is one of my husband’s favourite places to eat in Bristol and luckily it has gluten free options for me. He loves the Philly Cheese Steak and I’m a big fan of the gf/ve sweet potato tacos. Other options include burgers and burritos.  The gluten free options are limited here, but the portions are great and the prices are cheap! You can get 2 tacos for only £6.95 or you can upgrade to a taco plate which includes refried beans for £10.95. They also do great cocktails at 2 for £10. Their 30% student discount is incredible and they feature regularly on eatearly.co.uk and wriggle for huge discounts!

Pizzarova

This place specialises in casual pizza dining with ‘build your own’ options which is perfect when you have intolerances. They have three venues around Bristol – Park Street, Gloucester Road and Wapping Wharf. They are also on Deliveroo and they have a pizza landrover for event bookings. They do great gluten free bases and lots of vegan options too. Average prices are between £7 – £12 so great for a cheap evening out! Do note however, that this restaurant is sadly not suitable for coeliacs as they can’t guarantee cross-contamination.

Burger Joint

The Burger Joint also operates a ‘build your own’ theme with a huge list of options, including gluten free and vegan items. There are 15 options just for the patty, including ostrich meat, let alone the 28 topping options! Prices start from £9.95 for a simple burger with 2 sauces and side, and you can add toppings from only 80p. They offer student and NHS discount as well as great lunch time offers.  The staff are always so friendly and the portions are great! There are two restaurants in Bristol on Whiteladies Road and North Street.
